E-37: Having a Winning Attitude

Truly believing you will win will have a positive effect on your results.

Winners want to win
Losers expect to lose

Winners accept small wins
Losers chase the big wins

Winners set limits on how much they are winning to lose
Losers keep chasing it, figuring their luck will turn around

Winners are alert and on their game
Losers rush into any game without ever checking the odds or conditions

Winners believe in having a good time, while still being careful with their bankroll
Losers revel too deeply in the party atmosphere and consider their bankroll as money to blow.

Self Confidence: is an essential part of a winning attitude. If you know the game, thee odds and have a reasonable bankroll limit, you'll approach each session with a great deal more self confidence. You'll be much less likely to lose control under the bright lights of the casino.

Knowledge: By knowing the game and the best bets to place, you wont succumb to the tempting thought that your luck is due to change. Many losing players believe that their luck and superstitions give them an element of control. Remember knowledge is the key.

Practice & Observe: All this takes time and you should ease into any game slowly so that you don't get rattled by the gaming experience. There is a huge difference between reading about craps and actually playing it. Take your time to watch the flow of a game before you place a bet for the first time.
Once you have done your research and have watched the game under casino conditions, play confidently. Don't let some old lady tell you how to play. Play the numbers and set realistic goals.

Knowledge is power and power breeds confidence and success.

E-36: How to Play Three Card Poker

This game only takes a few minutes to learn and is a fun introduction to table games. There is little strategy involved so it is a good way to get use to the table environment.

  1. There are 2 types of bets you can make. The Ante and Pair Plus. You can bet one or both. The Ante bet is a wager you make against the dealer and thee Pair Plus has nothing to do with the dealer and is simply betting whether your hand will have a pair or higher.
  2. You then receive three cards. If you made the Ante bet, you must decide now whether you will bet again that your hand is better than the dealer, or fold. If you fold, you lose your Ante bet. If you decide to play, you must place a bet equal to your Ante in the Play spot on the table.
  3. After all bets are placed, the dealer turns up his cards. The dealer must have at least a queen high to qualify. If not, the dealer simply pays you your Ante bet at 1:1 and you take back your play bet.
  4. If the dealer does qualify, he will compare his hand against each player to determine the winner.
The hand rankings are different from that of standard poker as the odds of hitting a hand are quiet different.

Hand Rankings                                    Hand Payouts
Straight Flush                                        Straight Flush 40:1
Three of a Kind                                     Three of a Kind 30:1
Straight                                                  Straight 6:1
Flush                                                      Flush 4:1
Pair                                                        Pair 1:1
High Card                                              High Card 1:1

The basic strategy is very simple. Always play any hand with Queen high or better and
fold the rest.
